He had taken her; her hope, her sunshine, her best friend, her love. He had taken everything she was, that light in the darkness and snuffed her out. He had done it smiling. He had killed her with a smile. It was all just a game to him, it was all one big joke.
He was green and purple and bloody all over when they found her. She'd had her fingers around his throat, crushing the bones beneath her fingers and hearing him gasp, laughing to the last, for breath. She knew how to kill him in a second but she didn't want that. She wanted him to suffer. For Jason, for Barbara, for Steph. She hadn't killed him, not yet, but she'd made him wish he was dead.
They'd sentenced her to six years. Bruce and Damian had, had to hold Jason back as he screamed bloody murder as he yelled at the injustice. She didn't care. Six years meant nothing to her. It was time. And at the end of six months when she knew his bones would be healed, when the laughter and smile would reappear on his lips. She slipped out of her jail cell unnoticed, just like her real father had taught her and made her way into the clinic to pay him a visit.
He was alive when she left him. Just.
They gave her another six years after that. They doubled her security. They kept a watch on her at all times. Even Bruce watched her, the grief and the doubt and the shame on his face when he looked at her and knew she only stayed because she wanted to not because they could keep her locked up. And still, like clockwork, she slipped past them again and past Bruce and this time she made him cry, she made him scream. She made him ask her to stop. No, he asked Cassandra to stop, he asked Cass to forgive him. But that wasn't her name. Not anymore.
Her name was One who is all and she didn't forgive.
